Home Remedies for Bags Under the Eyes

Bothered by “bags under the eyes”? Before resorting to surgery try these remedies. 1. Get your rest. Fluid tends to accumulate when you are sleep deprived. 2. Correct water retention problems. Kidney and heart problems can cause fluid retention. Have swelling in your feet also? Get to a doctor and find out the cause. 3. Let gravity help. If you find that bags are worse in the morning, it is likely that fluid is accumulating at night while you are laying dow. Sleep with your head elevated by using extra pillows and/or raising the head of your bed on blocks. 4. Watch for allergies. These can be airborne as in hayfever or contact: hair products, soaps, and cosmetics are common culprits. Avoid items that cause allergy symptoms. Over the counter allergy products like Claritin and Zyrtec can be effective. 5. Cold compresses can help reduce swelling. Soak a cloth in ice water, wring it out and apply over the eyes. Another method is to wrap a paper towel around ice cubes. Apply cold for at least five minutes. 6. Teabags, black, green or white soaked in cold water and applied to the eyes can be helpful. Tea contains tannins which can help tighten the skin. The bags should be applied for approximately 10 minutes. Rinse your eyelids thoroughly with cool, clean water immediately after soaking to prevent the tea from discoloring your skin. 7. Some people find cucumbers effective. Cover the eyes with cool cucmber slice for 15 minutes. 8. Hemorrhoid creams can temporarily reduce swelling. Apply a small amount of hemorrhoid cream to baggy areas under your eyes and rub it in gently. Take great care not to get any into your eyes. Of course, when simple home remedies don't seem to help, consult your doctor.

How Much Does LASIK Cost?

How much does LASIK cost? The answer is not as simple as you might guess. LASIK is not just one procedure but a "family" of procedures all characterized by two steps: 1)Creation of a LASIK flap and 2)Reshaping the cornea underneath the flap. There are many different technologies to create the flap and different technologies to reshape the cornea. This leads to varied levels of safety and outcomes. In addition, LASIK providers provide different levels of service. To find out more about LASIK costs visit the link below.

LASIK Enhancements

Most patients will enjoy excellent vision after their LASIK procedure. A study by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery shows that more than 95 percent of patients who have undergone LASIK surgery are pleased with their new vision.
But not everyone will achieve perfect, 20/20 vision after just one procedure. And achieving perfect vision can be an illusive goal.
Each patient has unique variables and different degrees of vision needs that may affect their satisfaction with their visual outcome. Are you a perfectionist? Maybe you should consider a a pair of night time driving glasses if this is the only time you notice difficulty with your vision. If you are not satisfied with your vision after LASIK eye surgery, you are not necessarily "stuck" with the results after a single procedure. In some instances, an additional eye surgery — (often termed a "LASIK enhancement") — to give you the sharpness of vision you desire may be advisable..
LASIK enhancements are more common among patients over 40 years of age and those with high refractive errors. Because vision can fluctuate during the first few weeks after your LASIK procedure, (due to such factors as healing and dry eyes), it is usually advisable to wait at least 3 weeks before undergoing a LASIK enhancement.
Do not assume, that just because your vision is not "perfect" that you will need an enhancement. LASIK enhancements are generally quite successful but not always advisable. Seek the counsel of your LASIK eye surgeon and ask him what the risks and benefits of a second procedure are.
